Class Descriptions

All Levels

Beginners and intermediate practitioners gather, integrating āsana postures in a slow to moderate vinyasa flow. One hour, 75 and 90 minute classes are indicated on the schedule. 

Beginners Yoga

New to yoga? Working with an injury or other physical complication? Coming back from an extended period away from practice? Or just ready to deepen your functional understanding of the foundations of yoga? Then this class is for you. Come be in supportive community, and have fun while doing it.

 Candlelight Flow  + Meditation          

Candlelit All Levels class and meditation with optional aromatherapy. Beginners welcome. Meditation may include introduction to Sanskrit mantra (japa yoga), as well as mindfulness and prāṇāyāma breathing techniques. This practice is aimed at attaining a deep state of relaxation, and the slowing or pause of one’s mental fluctuations (“thoughts”). Open to all seeking a quiet space with instructional suggestions only. Join us to unwind and recharge for the week ahead!

Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga is a great introduction for those healing from injury, post-surgery, or brand new to yoga! This class is ideal for new or regular students who are seeking relief from chronic pain, healing from injury or post-surgery, find it difficult to get up and down off the floor, or typically sit for extended periods of time. Movement through simple postures and breathwork promotes a healthier body system to support our everyday activities and wellness. Explore and enhance greater range of movement while protecting the lower back, knees and other joints. This class explores meditation and pranayama (breathwork) practices to increase circulation, range of movement and energy. No flexibility or prior experience required. All are welcome!

Gentle + Restorative

This class introduces gentle and restorative postures to stretch, lengthen and detoxify the body’s systems. Modifications/props are given so you can find ease and comfort in each pose. Perfect for beginners and requires no pre-existing knowledge of yoga! Also suggested for Veterans or those in recovery.

Gentle Hatha

Beginner’s class introducing gentle postures to stretch, lengthen and detoxify the body’s systems. Requires no pre-existing knowledge of yoga. Also suggested for Veterans or those in recovery.

Power Flow

Ready to feel the burn? Build some heat? Strengthen and challenge yourself? Power Flow applies the principles of traditional yoga to a quick moving, heat building practice for beginners and seasoned practitioners alike.

Qi Gong (Mother of Tai Chi)

Beginner practitioners welcome. Harness energy to attain peace of mind through breathing paired with gentle movement. Increase balance and stability, relax muscles and release tension in this dynamic, subtle movement flow class.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is a practice that is all about slowing down and opening your body through passive stretching. Props are used extensively to support your body so you can hold poses for longer periods of time. Postures are usually adapted from supine or seated yoga poses with the addition of blocks, bolsters, and blankets to eliminate unnecessary straining.

Silent Flow

Silent Flow is a All Levels class with minimal cues from the instructor, requiring experienced knowledge of asana postures.  One hour and 75 minute classes are indicated on the schedule.

Slow Flow

Beginner’s class introducing breath and movement flow, requires no pre-existing knowledge of yoga. Optional modifications will be offered to challenge returning students and allow for growth in one's practice.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a great practice for helping to improve flexibility in the body and circulation in the joints through longer posture holds meant to go beyond the muscle tissue and into the connective tissue (tendons, fascia, ligaments). Props will be available to make this practice accessible for all levels. Beginners and intermediate practitioners welcome.

 


 Connected Warriors

Connected Warriors is a FREE weekly yoga class for veterans, military service members, and the people who love and support them. Gentle, basic yoga postures are introduced, and there is an emphasis on therapeutic movement and breathing as a means for stress reduction, pain management, and relaxation. Previous yoga experience is not required. This class is suitable for people of all ages, body types, people with injuries, and people with PTSD. Mats and props are provided.

 Kid’s Yoga Class

Our imaginations take us on a delightful journey in this class, filled with engaging yoga games to strengthen bodies and build social skills. Children also learn the power of breath and meditation for focus and relaxation to provide a healthy foundation.

Join NPYW's newest teachers for a fun mixed levels class! No flexibility, prior experience or pre-registration required. Please bring a yoga mat and a friend! Yoga mats available to rent for an additional $1 donation.)

Reiki Share

According to Eastern texts, Reiki represents the presence of a universal, all-encompassing life force or energy that is all around us. Reiki can be therapeutic for those who might need energy and is never harmful. Together, we will learn about the tradition and technique of Reiki, and practice these methods in a group setting.

Free Writing

Free Writing is based on the presumption that everybody has something to say and the ability to say it. However, apathy, self-criticism, resentment, anxiety about deadlines, fear of failure or censure may block the mental wellspring. Through Free Writing, participants build momentum to blast past blocks and experience uninhibited creative flow.
